As a Raeburn Orchard Family Photographer, I love to combine beautiful landscapes with family portraits to create heirloom artwork that is truely gorgeous to look at and hang in your home. While I have many locations in and around Perth that I love, Raeburn Orchard will have to be one of my favourite. This beautiful apple and persimmon fruit orchard provides a gorgeous natural setting for Perth family photography with rows of trees that change colours with the weather. The colours in autumn are vibrant and absolutely exquisite.

This is the second time I have photographed this beautiful family! Last time, we took the photos at a stunning spring yellow flower field. Have a look at their previous family session. This time they decided to have their family portraits at Raeburn Orchard.

Seeing my clients kids grow fills my heart with so much joy. The kids are both still under 5 which is the most endearing and also the most challenging age for professional family photos. Kids at this age want nothing to do with sitting still for photographers!

Having said that, this age group is also my favourite to photograph. The innocence, their little hands and toes, their adorable little personalities - it is so important to capture all this, because these are probably the moments they will forget as they grow up if not for these images.

I get asked so often how I manage to get beautiful pictures of little kids and my simple answer is to just go with the flow. This is what I suggest all parents before the session as well. Let them explore, bring some props that look great in pictures and that they can interact with as well. If a child starts to get upset, it is best to give them some space and focus on what THEY want to do.

Did we capture a picture of everyone sitting calmly and smiling at the camera? Maybe a couple. But the truth is, that's not the reality of a life with 2 kids under 5! I hope they look back at this session many years from now and remember this beautiful chaos fondly.
